***Audiobook Giveaway Drood by Dan Simmons***

Photobucket

I have been really lookinrg forward to this audiobook giveaway! I am also really psyched about reviewing Drood too. Dan Simmons is just a CRAZY awesome author, and I am stoked and extremely grateful to Anna from Hachette Book Group for the opportunity to giveaway a copy of the audiobook Drood by Dan Simmons to THREE winners!

So read all about it!

About the book (from the publisher's website):

On June 9, 1865, while traveling by train to London with his secret mistress, 53-year-old Charles Dickens -- at the height of his powers and popularity, the most famous and successful novelist in the world and perhaps in the history of the world -- hurtled into a disaster that changed his life forever. Did Dickens begin living a dark double life after the accident? Were his nightly forays into the worst slums of London and his deepening obsession with corpses, crypts, murder, opium dens, the use of lime pits to dissolve bodies, and a hidden subterranean London- mere research . . . or something more terrifying?Just as he did in The Terror, Dan Simmons draws impeccably from history to create a gloriously engaging and terrifying narrative. Based on the historical details of Charles Dickens's life and narrated by Wilkie Collins (Dickens's friend, frequent collaborator, and Salieri-style secret rival), DROOD explores the still-unsolved mysteries of the famous author's last years and may provide the key to Dickens's final, unfinished work: The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Chilling, haunting, and utterly original, DROOD is Dan Simmons at his powerful best.

I also HIGHLY suggest you check out Dan's website too. http://www.dansimmons.com/

I always wonder what "natural flavoring" is actually made of.

I am so excited to read this book and they don't have it at my pitifully small but beloved local library. Please include me in your contest and I'll donate it to the library after I listen!

The mystery that fascinates me is the assassination of JFK - who was the person on the knoll, was it a government conspiracy, were the Russians involved, etc.

Please count me in - Thanks!

Great giveaway Kelly!! Please include me - my mystery . . . I've been on the Seattle Underground Tour - and it feels kind of sinister - I know a few movies have filmed Jack-the-Ripper type movies there, and often wonder if anything strange like that has really happened down there. . . for those who don't know, Underground Seattle is part of the original city that sank (I think), and then they built over it, but you can still go down on tours and see the old buildings and things below the current streets - if you are ever in the area, make sure you check it out!

I would also like to know what happened to Amelia Earhart.

A mystery I would recommend is A Foreign Affair by Caro Peacock. It's a gentle mystery.

What really happened in the tunnel in Paris with Lady Di's car accident?

Unknown said...

How do we know if JR getting shot was a dream or if everything that happened after he came back was in fact a delusion brought about by a psychotic break. And why does this mystery still come up during current TV shows (and does anyone actually watch those unreality shows that dominate the airwaves)? If so, why?

Definitely The Terror, of course, but there are so many out there that's its hard to pick just one.
