Looking For Christian Connections for Your College Kids

Isaiah 54:13 ESV
All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.

As a mother of a teenager, I am often thinking about what is going to happen when he is off to college.  I have raised him up the best I can, and I know that he loves the Lord.  I also know that college is such a totally new experience for a child, and there are so many conflicting messages.  I really want to make sure that he can make some strong Christian connections when he is away on campus.

If this is something that you have thought about as well, I would like to share two sites with you that may give you some assistance in finding those connections for your child.

Campus Crusade for Christ at www.campuscrusadeforchrist.com is a campus ministry that has been around since the 1950s.  One of former interns is now on staff there after being involved with the ministry as a college student and then an intern.  They have a heart for the college student.  When at the site you can look up locations by entering the state your child will be going to college.

Live Above which can be found at www.liveabove.com is a resource for both students and parents to better prepare them for their college transition.   At Live Above, your child can also enter the school or location of the school they are going to attend and find Christian ministries that are involved with that school.  They also have a section for students to try to connect with Christian roommates.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship can be found at www.intervarsity.org.  InterVarsity is a ministry that also focuses on college campuses and seeks to engage the campus culture with the love and message of Jesus Christ.

With these resources I feel more empowered with helping my son with his future transition into the college life.  I hope that they can help you as well.  -Kelly
