GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED
Welcome to Part Two of the "What's On Your Mind?" Giveaway. Another memoir! I love these!!!! Yesterday's was I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti. A nice woman's point of view. Today we get to look inside the mind of the male! YAY! I cannot wait! How about you? Read the details, this is definitely a memoir you are going to want to read. I am highly honored and wish to thank Anna from Hachette Book Group for this opportunity to pass along Robin's insights to FIVE winners!
Description from Publisher's Website:
Robin Hemley's childhood made a wedgie of his memory, leaving him sore and embarrassed for over forty years. He was the most pitiful kindergartner, the least spirited summer camper, and dateless for prom. In fact, there's nary an event from his youth that couldn't use improvement. If only he could do them all over a few decades later, with an adult's wisdom, perspective, and giant-like height...
In the spirit of cult film classics like Billy Madison and Wet Hot American Summer, in DO-OVER! Hemley reencounters paper mache, revisits his childhood home, and finally attends the prom--bringing readers the thrill of recapturing a misspent youth and discovering what's most important: simple pleasures, second chances, and the forgotten joys of recess.
About the Author:
Robin Hemley is the winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship for his work on DO-OVER!. He has published seven books, and his stories and essays have appeared in the New York Times, New York Magazine, Chicago Tribune, and many literary magazines and anthologies. Robin received his MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop; he currently directs the Nonfiction Writing Program at the University of Iowa and lives in Iowa City, IA.

I wouldn't do anything over. I am who I am because of the choices I've made and I like who I am.

I would do over my failed attempt to go to college -- so that maybe I'd get it right and actually finish this time!

Please include me in your giveaway. The thing that I would do over is my second marriage. I am sure lots of people would take a do over on a bad marriage.

I wish I could have spent more time with my grandfather before he died.
I would want to do the sixth grade over again...Wait. No I wouldn't. The first time traumatized me for life. Nevermind then. How about my trip to the U.K. and Ireland, or my trip to NYC. Both of those would be awesome to do over again. Enter me please. Thanks!

If I could keep the knowledge and self-esteem that I have now, then I'd do over high school. I was painfully shy and spent most of my time hiding away from everyone. I really wish I could have been more myself. I know I would have had a lot more fun.
Thanks! :0)

I would definitely take a do-over on my Senior Prom.
I had a choice to go to an all girls HS or a co-ed public HS and chose the latter. What does an 8th grader really know of life? Hindsight is 20-20. I now know (at almost 60) I would have done better in an all girls school (worked harder and got better grades).

I would do over my high school years and try to be a bit more outgoing.
If I could do something in my life over I would have to say.....I should have followed my heart and married my first love.
The only thing I would do over is to have been more aggressive and focused while in college instead of thinking as the degree as secondary to the partying (Shhhh....dont' tell anyone!!)

Hi
Thank you very much for entering me in your Do Over giveaway. What would I do over? Absolutely nothing! That would be cheating! Please remove my last name and email address. If necessary, please delete the comment, and make a new one.
Mr. Elie
FROM ME (Kelly) as a favor to Bridget, I am posting this entry for this person. Apparently they were unable to enter a comment. I can't make a habit of this though.
I have gotten the entry through email this time, and I am posting it here because this person certainly tried hard. :)
What I'd like to do over if I had the opportunity would be to get better grades when I was in high school.
I've always believed in living life with no regrets. Everything I've done, even when I look back and think I shouldn't have, taught me something whether I liked the lesson or not. I guess if I had the chance to go back and do something over though, I would want to realize a long time ago how great a person I am, even if I'm not the skinniest, coolest, prettiest. It took me a long time to get comfortable in my own skin and feel good about who I am in spite of my faults. So I guess that's what I would do-over.
