Because I Like Horror, I Had to Share - Pontypool

I don't know why, but I have been a massive horror fan since I was a small child.

I would stay up late at night watching movies like Trilogy of Terror. I grew up in

California and one of my favorite programs was KHJ-TV Channel 9's weekend horror before and during the time Elvira was the wonderful host. :) I would watch everything with glee. I also loved The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.

I have seen many B horror movies, and for the most part, I haven't seen a horror movie I didn't like to some degree. Every now and then there are a few stinkers. Also, I sometimes re-watch movies that scared me silly as a child, but now make me a little embarrassed. Example: Phantasm. That movie had me super frightened. I was quite young when it came out. I had to get permission to see it, and was up for hours trying to get over it. But now. Well, my husband and I watched through the magic of the Netflix view now feature, and WOW...kind of a stinker. I can still see how it got to me as a kid though. I think the main thing that I found interesting is that the bar in the movie Phantasm, reminded me of the bar in the Quentin Tarrantino "Death Proof." Seriously, it looked so much like it I wished I had it on hand to compare.

Anyway, my husband is a true saint. He doesn't bother to understand my horror needs. He just kindly, tries to find a horror film to satisfy my oddball tastes. Well, it isn't that my tastes are oddball. He just doesn't really share them. What a doll right? How nice is it that he goes out of his way to do this?

Last night we watched "The Skeptic" which starred Tim Daly, Tom Arnold, and Zoe Saldana. For a movie I hadn't heard of, it really wasn't quite bad. I'll get into that with a review later though. Before the movie started, we were treated to some previews. Most of them were of the "I like horror, but that looks stupid" variety, but one stood out. It was called Pontypool.

Check out the preview.

What do you think? Looks pretty awesome to me. :) I have already added it to our Netflix queue, but that will be a wait since it doesn't have a date yet. Still...it looks pretty cool. One thing that I like is that it is a psychological horror film. I love a horror film that gets me with more than just some blood and guts. I haven't seen it, but I have read enough about it now to see that this is right up my alley. Not only that, I found that it was based on a book called Pontypool Changes Everything by Tony Burgess. I can guarantee you THAT book is also on my wish list.

Here, the author Tony Burgess talks about the film.

I am definitely stoked, and I just had to share. :) Hope it looks good to some of you.

My husband and I also love horror movies. My favorite that I've seen recently was Drag Me to Hell. Check it out if you haven't already seen it!
