Praise You In This Storm

Last night my husband and I watched a documentary that we had saved on our DVR called "The Last Truck." It was a documentary about the closing of a GM plant in Moraine, Ohio. Let me tell you, my heart broke. It is so sad seeing people lose their livelihood. What will become of them? What will become of so many of us? I know a lot of people who have lost their jobs or have had their pay cut. My husband and I both have taken serious cuts, but we are thankful that we have our jobs and that God has enabled us to somehow still make ends meet and put some money away. Trust me...it is God.

There are so many uncertainties in this life right now, but my faith in God is not shaken. It will not be. I have been through a lot of circumstances, and many were not pretty. This song reminds me of those times and how I have come through to the other side with the help of God.

The artists are Casting Crowns. I saw them last summer in Flagstaff. It was an incredible concert. The song is Praise You In This Storm from the CD "Life Song." When I listen to this song, I cry. It is the message in the lyrics. I always feel hope well up inside me when I hear this song. It speaks to my heart. And on today...the anniversary of 9-11 and all the people who lost their lives, I just had to share.

The video is something that someone compiled. I just really wanted to share the song and its message. :) Give it a listen.

Praise you in this storm Lyrics
Artist(Band):Casting Crowns

Praise You in This Storm
words by Mark Hall/music by Mark Hall and Bernie Herms

I was sure by now,God, that You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.

Chorus:
And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can't find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away

Chorus

I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth

My mom was in a very serious car accident about 2 years ago, and spent 2 weeks in the hospital. This song was my rock through that whole experience.

Thanks for sharing what it means to you. :o)

Be thankful and grateful and kind to others during their difficult times. That's all we can do. Life is just ugh somtimes.

That is about the size of it, Jenny. I am definitely grateful. And kindness is key. I couldn't agree more. :)

Thank you for sharing what it means to you Christy. It really deeply touches me each and ever time. It is a nice reminder that God is aware of each tear and is there. :)

I really like this song--it helps to remember that in every life there will be storms--doesn't mean that God isn't with us--sometimes we just have to hunker down and ride it out, knowing that He is still sheltering us with His tender care.
