Woodstock '99 Review

In 1999, crowds of music lovers went to Woodstock 1999. It was a celebration of music and the creativity of the first Woodstock in 1969. From this DVD, you get to see some interviews with the attendees, volunteers, and you get to see great footage of some of the various acts that played at Woodstock 1999. The music was good if you liked the bands that were highlighted. I half watched while catching up with an old friend via email. Here are my impressions.

Music - Good shots, good sound. There were a few times that my hubby hit the fast forward. He is a huge music lover, but there are a few bands that he really doesn't care for. It was interesting seeing these artists as they looked ten years ago. It was also interesting when you think of where they are now. I definitely had a touch of nostalgia while watching. I did not attend Woodstock '99. By the time that came along, I was too busy being a single mom to a four year old. I did go to Lollapalooza back in the day. Ahhhhh such a long time ago. :)

Interviews - It was cool seeing the interviews with the volunteers and attendees. However, I could not help but think of the chaos that took place there. Though there was a lot of good, there were some horrible acts too, and I just could not get that part out of my mind.

Negatives - I saw way more breasts than I think necessary. Of course, they couldn't really be avoided. I couldn't help but wonder why these girls were all just taking off their shirts? Honestly, I don't have a nudity problem. I just think that going topless and bouncing on some guy's shoulders would be kind of painful after a while. Heck, if I don't have a good bra on and I'm working out...I have got to stop and get one! I'd worry about sunburn too. There wasn't anything overly sexy about it. I'll say that. It was pretty much just matter of fact. I'm just glad my son wasn't watching this with us. Other negative...naked men too. I didn't count, but I definitely saw more than one willy (just putting it calmly). Lastly, it was sad seeing the debris left behind after the show. I wondered who had to clean all of that up.

My thoughts - Don't share this with your children without watching it first. I enjoyed the music and the interviews. I could have done without the nudity. Will I watch it again? Probably not. It definitely made me recall some of the good times I had at outdoor music festivals, and that was cool. I had also seen some of the artists at other venues so reliving that live experience was nice as well.
