I Spy With My Blog Reading Eye

Oh it is so easy to be corny. I am feeling particularly corny today. I haven't blogged in a bit. I was going to do some heavy blog reading the other day and I got swept up in a big pile of nappishness. I don't especially believe that is true, but I felt nappish nonetheless. :) This morning, my husband are enjoying a little coffee, and he is playing some music via the bedroom computer for me (You Wont See Me - Beatles from album Rubber Sole). I thought it would be nice to catch up on some blogs and share a little linkage to some fun reading and giveaways in one blog. What do you think?

Well, I hope you think "GREAT!" I am doing it either way, but it would be nice to have someone come along. :)

First stop will be a blog that begins with B for Beatles. No reason other than the song I am listening to is by the Beatles.

Let me tell you, starting with B was a great idea! Kathy from Bermudaonion's Weblog not only has some great book reviews, but she kindly posted an amazing looking recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cookies! This looks too good not to make! While there you are also really going to want to check out Literary Road Trip. This week was with Elise Blackwell. You will really enjoy this interview and possibly find an author that you haven't heard of before, but now totally has piqued your interest. I know it worked for me! It is so nice to discover new authors. It must be quite fun for Kathy to introduce them to us. :)

Now my husband is listening to a Dinosaur Jr. song called "See You." In keeping with the direction I am going, I am off to the Ds.....

So for Ds it is off to Drey's Library. YAY! We have a GIVEAWAY! No huge surprise. Drey has some of the coolest book giveaways around. This giveaway is for Diana Holquist's How to Tame a Modern Rogue. There is a great description of a book that sounds pretty cute. A playboy who is taken by a plain sweet Jane of a gal? A school teacher no less? There is a book excerpt on Drey's site so definitely check it out. This giveaway is for up to 5 copies. First comment with the answer to the question "Would you date a playboy?" This should be fun! For every ten people who enter, another book gets thrown into the mix. So spread the word! Ends August 20th!

Drey also has a great review of a book I am reading right now called I Can See You by Karen Rose. I am reading this book now, and reading Drey's review reconfirmed what I was growing to know...this is a great read! Be sure to check out Drey's Library for some awesome reviews, excellent giveaways and I have also really enjoyed her interviews too!

My hubs is now playing RTZ's Until Your Love Comes Back Around. RTZ was a band consisting of members of the band Boston. Let me tell you, this song in particular was AMAZING. It reminds me of being in my early 20s. I saw RTZ (Return To Zero) perform at Rocky Point, an amusement park in Rhode Island. Me, my friend Lisa, her fiancee (now ex husband) John, and two of John's friends all came together for this musical excursion. We had a lot of fun at the park that day. Rocky Point had amazing clam cakes and clam chowder. You did not go to Rocky Point without picking up some of this amazing fodder! Anway, I digress. My husband was absolutely thrilled when we were dating and I told him that I liked RTZ. He didn't know many people who did. Anway, here is a youtube that just plays the song Until Your Love Comes Back Around. Boy I sure to miss Brad Delp's voice. Check it out. It really is quite beautiful. I never understood why it didn't go higher than it did.

Okay...onto the R's

Nice! Head on over to
Reading Rocks! There is a GIVEAWAY to jump in on!!!!!! What is up? A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray! Two readers are going to snag a copy! The cover is simply stunning, and the story looks amazing. The synopsis is definitely going to hook you in! This giveaway ends on September 22nd! This book is also going to become a feature film! I bet you really want to enter now! Be sure to take some time at Reading Rocks to look around. You will find some very interesting book information and more. :) One post you might also want to check it is "Say WHAT?" covering the Disney idea of Miley Cyrus playing Laurel in Aprilynne Pike's Wings. What do you think about this?

Oh JOY...my husband is now listening to Warrant. How awesome is that? No really, I kid a bit. No I kid a lot. My husband and I both kind of chuckled when it came on. He has such an interesting music library on his computer. The song is "I Saw Red." If I could post the video here I would. Here is the youtube link:
I Saw Red. It is very typical for the whole rock ballad genre. A true giggler at this point. I don't think I was truly into Warrant back in the day. They kind of came in the tail end of all the hair bands who wrote moving rock ballads. Kind of like how there was a boy band rush back in the late 90s.

W blog...

Debbie of
Wrighty Reads has a fun blog and is just sweet as can be as many of you know. She is going away with her family for a lovely lake getaway. It sounds like so much fun. Check it out: Going to the lake! Ahhh four lovely days in a cabin at a lake. Doesn't that just sound divine? With my son starting school on Monday, there will be no lake trips for us, but I am hoping to hit the Grand Canyon next weekend. August 15th and 16th are the last free weekends for this summer at National Parks. I haven't been to the Grand Canyon since I was 18. Now that I live in Arizona, I really should take advantage although it isn't like it is terribly close or anything like that. :)

Okay...I am off to just do some regular reading without my husband's music to guide me. Hope you see something you want to check out.

You must read all the time, girl! What a HORRIBLE habit ;) My daughter reads until the wee hours of the morning. Good thing she's homeschooled so she can sleep in a little. ha ha
