Full Description
"Our lives are so filled with junk from the past-from dried up tubes of glue to old grudges-that it's a wonder we can get up in the morning," exclaims motivator, best-selling author, columnist, and life coach Gail Blanke.

"If you want to grow, you gotta let go," is Blanke's mantra; and that means eliminating all the clutter-physical and emotional-that holds you back, weighs you down, or just makes you feel bad about yourself.

In THROW OUT FIFTY THINGS she takes us through each room of the house-from the attic to the garage-and even to the far reaches of our minds. Through poignant and humorous stories, she inspires us to get rid of the "life plaque" we've allowed to build-up there.

That junk drawer (you know that drawer) in the kitchen? Empty it!

Those old regrets? Throw 'em out!

That make-up from your "old" look? Toss it!

That relationship that depresses you? Dump it!

Once you've hit fifty-you'll be surprised how easy it is to get there-and once you've thrown out that too-tight belt and too-small view of yourself, you'll be ready to step out into the clearing and into the next, and greatest, segment of your life.

I was thinking that before I literally HIT 50, I should learn how to do this. I am a pack rat from way back. I can do it when I have to, but I have noticed that the only times I really do a major overhaul is when I am moving. :) My husband literally got a gleam in his eyes when I showed him this book. He knows how I am all too well. In the next few weeks I am going to tackle this book and the clutter in my life and home! I will be posting some pictures of my triumph. :) So how about you? Want to get in on some Spring Clearing?

Anna from Hachette has kindly offered five books here for a giveaway. Here is what they require: Open to US and Canada. NO P.O. Boxes.

Now let's get on to the winning:

First entry: Name just one item you could get rid of right now. That is it. Please include your email address if it is not attached to your blog. If your email is attached to your blogger profile, be sure your profile is viewable.

You can get additional entries by doing any of the following providing you do the first one first. Please leave a separate comment for each:

1 - Tweet this contest and come back and leave me the link for one entry.

2 - Blog about this contest and come back and leave the link for an entry.

3 - Send a friend this way, make sure they comment on who sent them and you both get two entries.

That is it. Pretty simple. This contest runs from today February 24 until March 8 at 11:59pm. I will email the five winners who will have 48 hours to email me back with their addresses.

Thanks so much for dropping by! And please be sure to visit all the other blogs participating in the Book Giveaway Carnival!

I have a big rubber band ball that lives in my kitchen junk drawer. I add all of the rubber bands that I get with the mail and such to it thinking that I'll always have a rubber band when I need one. I haven't needed more than five rubber bands in the past three or four months. So, I'm thinking the ever growing rubber band ball, which is in danger of causing my junk drawer to having closing issues, could easily go.

Right now I would give away the maternity clothes that I wore then. They were all hand-me-downs from the 80s and godawfully ugly. If we get pregnant again soon like I hope we do, I really don't want to have to revisit them...so why have I been keeping them? Hm...

As a matter of fact, just yesterday I got rid of all 74 books I was so proud of paying $5 for several years ago at a book sale. If I haven't read them by now, I never will. I also just got rid of all the magazines I'm going to read "someday", and threw away all the old makeup and expired medicines that have been cluttering up my bathroom.
But if there's one thing I should get rid of now, it's the thing that makes curly french fries. It only works if you have REALLY solid potatoes - I keep thinking that there's a knack to it and I just need to learn it.
I want Kakihara's breadmaker!! I use mine every few days - couldn't live without it. Would like another one so when company is here, I can make more.
