New Year's Resolutions...bad? Not bad? I'm Making Some Plans Either Way. :)

Photobucket

For the past few days or weeks even, I have seen a lot of inspiring New Year blogs. I am not looking to inspire, but I do want to set up some plans and hold myself accountable. Nothing better than a blog to do that. To a degree anyway. I do not have any dramatic changes planned, but I really do want to make some improvements.

I have been wary of making resolutions, because some people have told me that they are based on superstion and if you believe in God then you should not be relying on yourself. What do you think? I don't think making goals and plans to change behaviors is wrong. Making a resolution is not like some wish or spell at least not in my mind.

Everything I write is basically going to be from the tip of my fingertips so this is a list made on the fly. I hope you don't mind.

Kelly's New Year Plans

Spiritual:
I cannot complain about my prayer life. I have always actively communicated with God. I have strong faith, and I have seen some amazing things. When I look back on my life, I can see clearly where God has been there for me. Life has not always been easy. In fact, life has never been easy, but it could have been harder, and all the tough times taught me lessons that have not only made me not just a better person but a more appreciative person.

I would like to read and study the Bible more. I am hoping to get into another Beth Moore Bible Study. I was thinking of Jesus the One and Only.

Family:
This is easy and goes with every family member. I am hoping to write to them more. We keep in touch with phone calls and whatnot, but I really think letters are so special. My goal is to send at least one letter or simple card each month to my family members. This also includes the hubby and the son. :) My husband and I fell in love writing each other, and I want to keep that up. :)

Budget:
I am actually pretty good with money, but I have one thing that I need to get back into. I need to get back into the habit of writing down what amount of money I spend and what I spend that money on. You really seem to think harder about spending when you write it down. I picked up a really cute planner for 2009 that I plan to use partially for that purpose.

Self:
I am planning on decluttering my wardrobe a bit. There are some items that I have been holding onto for much too long. So my goal is go through my closet at least once every season so I can remove what I do not wear and donate it. I do not have a lot of clothes, but I definitely have things that I do not wear all too often. I do not know what compels me to hold onto certain items. I am really doing much better though. When I lived in Rhode Island I had three closets of clothes and one wardrobe. I did have the seasons to dress for though. :) I got rid of a lot of clothing before I moved to California and even more when I moved to Arizona, but I have a LONG way to go. :)

I am not the most organized woman. I am working on that as well. The planner for 2009 will be helping me with my time. The closet is another organizing step.

I have been ill for a while. Recently I discovered that I am hypothyroid. It is nice to know what is going on. My hope is to get it under control. I am now on thyroid medication, but I imagine it will take a while to get back to norm. I am hoping to learn what I can about this illness so I can better take care of myself.

FUN FUN FUN... I want to continue to read, continue to write, and I want to take more pictures. I want to make memories and preserve memories every single day. Life is sooooo good. I just want to enjoy it again and again. Oh...I also want a better looking blog. :)

God bless you all. I hope that you have an amazing 2009!!!

Your resolutions are great. That's one thing I didn't do was make resolutions. It was nice to read yours. Thanks for writing them!
