Flirting with Forty Countdown Day 5!!!!

Oh so many great blogs to visit and so little time! I hope you are ready for some fun reviews of Jane Porter's Flirting with Forty, giveaways, and clips to the Lifetime Movie Flirting with Forty. I plan on blog hopping and checking out all the fun and I hope you do too. I'll have a list of all the blogs at the end of this blog, so be sure to check it out!

But first my dear friends...I have been openly pondering having a Flirting with Forty Spa Party, and I have gone over some party favors and spa facial recipes that you can make at home. Now I realize that I have not covered beverages...so let's hit those too. We are going N/A and Alcoholic. That way you have your options. Now part of the romance of Flirting with Forty has a Hawaiian backdrop, because of this, I am thinking frozen drinks and smoothies, baby!!!

Cantaloupe Lime Smoothie- This will keep you in that nice spa cleansing mood and it is tasty too. The recipe here will serve six.

6 limes or 1/2 cup of lime juice
12 cup(s) diced cantaloupe
1 1 cup(s) diced peach
6 tablespoon(s) honey
18 ice cubes

This is how we do it: Take the lime and grate 3 teaspoons lime peel and squeeze 2 tablespoons juice.
In blender, combine lime peel, lime juice, cantaloupe, peach, honey, and ice and blend until mixture is smooth and frothy.

Tastes good and possibly cleansing. :) Okay maybe not cleansing, but you'll still feel pretty good about yourself.

Frozen Pina Colada

4 cups ice cubes
3/4 cups pineapple juice, chilled
1/2 cups rum
1/2 cups cream of coconut

This is how we do it: Combine ice, juice, rum, and cream of coconut in a blender and blend until mixture is smooth and frothy. Serves 4

Virgin version...well...ummm...take the rum away.

Non alcoholic Mai Tai Recipe

2 cups pineapple juice
1 cup orange juice (fresh is best)
1 cup club soda
1/4 cup cream of coconut
1 1/2 - 2 cups crushed ice

This is how we do it: This is not a frozen blended drink. You do want crushed ice.
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and stir well. Pour into cocktail glasses.
You want to garnish with fresh fruit like orange slices and maraschino cherries or pineapple. Got any paper umbrellas? Bring em on!!!! This serves about four.

The Midori Margarita!

6 ounces tequila
3 ounces Midori liqueur
3 /4 cup sweet and sour mix

I prefer to use less sweet and sour mix and more lime juice or even lime and lemon juice because sweet and sour mix is pretty sweet as it is.

This is how we do it:
To blend or not to blend:

This is the answer: If you want to blend put all the ingredients in a blender with a cup of ice. Blend for about a minute. Rub rim of glass with lime and dip the glass rim in sugar (I usually put the sugar on a small plate.

Not blending? Put the ingredients in a pitcher and stir them up. Again it is great to sugar rim the glass. Pour over ice. Garnish as you wish.

For those who just do not do tequila...you can totally make this without it. Another great alteration is Midori and some Malibu rum. YUMMMMMMMMM

Now that we have some more of our party planned...want to check out some blogs? Remember these blogs are touring Flirting with Forty by Jane Porter and many, many, many are giving away books and fun stuff!

I read this book earlier this year. I think it was on a summer must read list. The spa party sounds like lots of fun.

I heard about this movie on the radio. I am definitely going to Tivo it. Maybe I should read the book first? I didn't realize it was such the phenomenon! The drink recipes sound yummy!
