Faith and Fiction Saturday: Christmas Books!

It is time for one of my favorite Friday night treats...reading, thinking about, and answering the wonderful questions that Amy from My Friend Amy's Blog has posed to us in Faith and Fiction Saturday. If you have not joined in, think about doing it now and click below. You will get hooked! ;)

Here is Amy's question for today...well Saturday. :)

It's Christmas time and one of my favorite things to do is read Christmas themed books. Do you enjoy reading holiday themed books? Do you have any special book you read every year? Do you have a special devotional you like to use? (not fiction..I know!) Have you read any good Christmas books this year?

My Thoughts: Well, I already said I love to read them and I actually really enjoy Christmas romances. I don't read a book every year because there are always so many new ones to discover and enjoy. I did buy an advent devotional this year, but forgot to use it!! I read The Spy Who Came for Christmas and I loved it!

I have to say that other than THE Christmas story, I have yet to actually read a Christmas story. I should really get on that. I am a huge lover of Christmas films, and I am bummed that I have actually missed out on a seasonal read. I am anxiously awaiting every one's responses, because I still have time left, so maybe I can find a good one now. I'll be reading and taking notes! Anyone have an recommendations?

errr, I can't seem to get Amy's website to work. So incase I can't do this one here are my suggestions for you.

The Christmas Edition by Robin Shope
Holiday Illusions by Lynette Eason
Let them Eat Fruitcake by Melody Carlson

I to have not been able to read as many Christmas books as I would like, but I have a bunch just sitting there waiting for me to have time, my TBR list is piling up. :)

Me too! This is really the first year that I'm jumping into Christmas fiction and I think it will hold over well into January...

Ohhhh - I've read some great holiday books this year - a lot were Christian too. :)

PS - I saw Four Christmases last night (first read date with the hubby in two years! My parents watched our son! Yeah!!) It was funny! My husband says it is up there with Christmas Vacation - which is his all-time favorite!

Here's my answer!

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is great. A couple of people mentioned The Spy Who Came For Christmas. I may have to check it out!

Yeah, I don't really read Christmas books aside from Luke 2 either. Though I will review a Christmas murder mystery shortly.

I'm like you, I really havent read any before this year. I think you'd like Engaging Father Christmas (it wasn't cheesy), but I wished I'd read Finding Father Christmas first...I'll have to get on that!

I'm in the middle of Finding Father Christmas...first ever Christmas read for me! It is really great. :-)

Hey! I answered your question in my comments.

Hope you're having a good weekend. Can I come over? The high tomorrow is supposed to be 5 with wind chills around -20. Brrrrr! It's 6 right now. (And we're in the "banana belt" for this state!)

The Best Christmas Pagent ever is one of the funniest children's books I've read.

I didn't even think about the The best Christmas Pagent ever. That was a great one and I used to read that with my kids when I taught. I love Christmas stories and have several on my to be read stack but right now I am reading the Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck
