Early Birds Blog Tour of Flirting with Forty and GIVEAWAY!!!

I was intending on doing this review this afternoon when I got home from picking up my son from school. Once I got there, I found out he was a brand new daddy...of an eight grade sex ed baby. Named Vladimir. Anyway...now I'm back and lets begin.

Got a giveaway posted at the bottom of this post. :)

If you want to learn more about the lovely Jane Porter...do check out her website and blog:

Jane Porter

If you want a peek into what Flirting with Forty is about...check it here:

About the book:
He got the second home and the Porsche. She got the kids and a broken heart. Now Jackie, post-divorce and heading toward the big four-oh, is on vacation in sunny Hawaii and staring down her upcoming birthday-alone. But not for long. She's soon falling for Kai, her gorgeous, much younger surf instructor, and the wild passionate fling they have becomes the biggest surprise of Jackie's life.

Back home in Seattle, Jackie has to struggle with single parenthood...and memories of Kai. He hasn't forgotten her. Yet thousands of miles of ocean-not to mention an age difference that feels even wider-separate them. And, of course, her friends disapprove. When a choice must be made, can she, will she risk everything for her chance at happiness?

My review: When I read the description...I had to have this book. Let me say...I loved it. :) Being a former single mom, I could definitely relate to part of Jackie's dilemma. You want to be a good mom, but you also need to not just let your life slip away. There is no crime in being happy. Though I was a single mom with no real parental involvement from the other half...I kind of envied her ability to even go to Hawaii. :) I just don't know anyone who can do that.

Jane captures much of the vulnerability that so many of us women have felt in our lives as single women, single moms, even married women. Sometimes our desire to be happy is beaten down by what we need to get done. Often we cannot live in the moment, because of fears. It was touching, seeing Jackie reach out for a happy life, a love life and a balanced life. She learns to find joy in all things. She learns to find happiness and not just in a man but in life.

There are things that Jackie does that I would not do...NOW. That is because I have been where Jackie has been. I am now happier on the other side. :)

I really enjoyed this book more and more as I got into it. I liked that sex was involved, but it wasn't about heaving body parts or remotely graphic. I felt for Jackie through a lot of her emotions. It has definite highs and lows. It is not entirely realistic, but then again...it is.

Now tomorrow Lifetime will premier Flirting with Forty starring Heather Locklear. I can tell you this...I'll be watching. I hope you will too.

Now onto the contest! I am pretty stoked because I have a fabulous giveaway thanks to Miriam of the Hachette Book Group.

What am I giving away? Three copies of Flirting with Forty by Jane Porter courtesy of the Hachette Book Group.

And a special grand prize possibility for the extra mile entries which contains a four pack of Jane's books: Mrs. Perfect, Odd Mom Out, Flirting with Forty and The Frog Prince. Again all of these are courtesy of Hachette Book Group. The grand prize will also include a pretty cool spa package I set up as well. I have been blogging about having a little spa viewing party of Lifetime's premier of Flirting with Forty, and I put together an additional package I call Spa Spoil Me for the grand prize winner which contains:
--Studio Voltaire Paris Suitcase (adorable paper, hatbox style--so cute I am having trouble giving it up)

--Aroma Eye Pillow scented with lavender
--Get Fresh Travel Gift Set
-- Caswell - Massey Almond & Aloe Eye Pads.

Who is eligible and how to win:
Hachette will ship to the US and Canada but no P.O. Boxes.
How to win one of the three Flirting with Forty Books:
Simply comment and leave your email address so I can contact you if you win. That will give you one entry.

Any additional thing you do will give you an entry into the grand prize draw as well as an additional entry for Flirting with Forty.

Here are your options:

1: Blog about this contest and come back to tell me here with a link to the blog. One Entry.
2. Tweet about this contest come back and post about that with your user name. One Entry
3. Watch Flirting with Forty tomorrow night on Lifetime and come back and tell me what you though. One Entry
4. Yesterday I posted about other blogs that are hosting reviews and giveaways. You will get an additional entry for each one you visit and comment on. Come back and let me know who you visited. Possible 27 additional entries. If you go that far...YOU DESERVE THIS. :)

Make sure you post a new comment for everything you do and include your email. Do one thing or do them all...whatever you do...have some fun! :)

I will pick all winners on December 18 and contact those winners via email on December 19th.

PS...I will try to take a picture of the Spa Spoil Me package as soon as I can and post it here.

EDIT: Here are those pics....

Great new blog and what a beautiful family you are! I think all women should wear their wedding dress every chance they get. Why not? It would be fun and all that money for only one day is such a waste.

It's 2:00 a.m. and I just finished watching the rerun of Flirting With Forty. I normally don't like to watch the movie before I've read the book but it couldn't be helped this time and it looked good. And it was! Of course the actors are gorgeous so that doesn't hurt. Heather Locklear wears a bikini. She's beautiful but that's not realistic! When the little boy told his mother that he just wanted her to be happy I melted. The kids were adorable. I really look forward to reading the book now. As a special note, there are outtakes at the end of the movie so watch it all if you like those. I'll be back to add more entries. Thanks for your contest!
