On the Road Again and Road Trip Bags

Today we are heading out to California for a weekend of visiting mom and helping her pack. Right now I am enjoying a simple lil bacon and eggs breakfast, and then the fun of packing begins. Photobucket

One of my favorite things about road trips is packing the road trip bags.

First bag is the Bago O Munchies --- For us munchies include the road trip standard of beef jerky, Chex Mix, a variety of granola bars, Cheeze Its, candy, and gum. Of course we also pack a mini cooler of bottled water, juice and soda.

The other travel bag is the fun bag of distractions. This bag has of course a camera and my GPS unit. It also has our road games including Mad Libs, Travel Yahtzee, Trivial Pursuit Cards (I leave the game and ask the questions when we drive), and a crossword puzzle (it is a bit hard to do on the road but gets the whole clan a chatting). I also include items for when we get where we are going which will be a book or two for each of us and one or two of the many magazines I never have time to read when I am at home.

The only thing left is clothes and essentials.

Road trips really are a lot of fun. This would also be a great time to jump into a book on CD. We include these when we cam. Last time we took Sue Grafton's "S is for Silence." It was wonderful! It really makes the more dull part of a road trip fly by (the dull part being night driving in the dessert).s is for silence Pictures, Images and Photos

I hope and pray that everyone has a blessed weekend.

You are very prepared for your road trips - they sound like fun. Mad Libs are certainly a good idea. We share many common tastes in movies - are you on Netflix? I came across a post you made having just discovered Teaser Tuesdays - I have found a gazillion new books for my To Read shelf from that meme - it is very addictive. I highly recommend.
